Then after about chapter 3/4 things will start to pick up and from the moment you reach Starbase Ace, things radically improve and escalate. The first couple of chapters will have you wonder what is going on no matter how hard you try to pay attention.
When you begin this book though, BARE WITH IT. Personally I would read this first and then go into Ready Player One as although this book is really good, it's an idea that just seems a little too thin. Now I will just begin with a disclaimer: I read this book after reading Ready Player One and although I knew it wasn't a sequel I did somewhat go in expecting it to feel similar.

So when he sees the flying saucer, he's sure his years of escapism have finally tipped over into madness. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming.
